Lifelong Ambassador

As many of you know, I am an ambassador for the 2019 Free Press Marathon and other running events. The role of the ambassador is to promote the event, let others know how great it is, spread the word and make it easy to sign up. I even have a discount code to share to help encourage sign ups. I post about it on my social media channels and offer the opportunity to my clients who I know personally and who I think may enjoy one of the Detroit Free Press events. As a longtime runner and as someone who has found great joy and confidence through this sport, I also feel my role as an ambassador is to help beginners get going, improve, and discover how great running is.

Lately, it seems like companies are everywhere on social media inviting people to be an ambassador of their event or product. All you really need to do is tell others how incredible something is. Get the word out and invite others to appreciate and experience whatever great thing you already have.

This “ambassador” trend isn’t new though - it’s ancient wisdom. Over 2000 years ago Saint Paul began recruiting a group of ambassadors to spread some very good news. Today I am one of them. I am an ambassador for Christ Jesus.

While listening to a podcast today with Luis Palau I was greatly encouraged to keep up with this ambassador role. In fact, this role means quite a lot more to me than any other. I know Jesus and He’s the best thing I’ve got going on in life. How can I tell my community about a race event (which is actually a great event you should sign up and use my discount code) and neglect sharing something much better?

From my own experience, these are some of the reasons it’s truly incredible to follow Jesus:

Guidance and Wisdom - since I don’t know what the heck I am doing half the time, it’s nice being able to ask the One who knows every answer for some help, literally every day.
Comfort and Peace - since every day there’s bad news coming from somewhere. Knowing that God sees it all and will ultimately bring justice and make all wrongs right.
Security - in a relationship that is impossible to lose. No matter what happens to me I will always have Jesus, and will end up in Heaven with Him.
Freedom - to completely trust Him because he is always faithful and always there for me.
Purpose - in the lifelong role I have as one of Christ’s ambassadors. Most of the time I’m not writing blog posts, but every day I try to represent Jesus well, seek Him more and extend His love and kindness to the people around me.
Forgiveness - for the endless times I let myself and others down, for every time I want to be better or wished I had been better.
Unconditional love - from the One who made me and knows me better than I know myself. Who sees the very best in me while inspiring me to be grow in character.

Jesus is amazing! If you don’t know Him and would like an introduction, please reach out to me. I know Him! He’s the best, literally. Don’t just take my word for it: getting to know Him is better than you could imagine.

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
— Saint Paul, in a letter to the Corinthian church

Epilogue

Having recently started my own coaching business, I’ve been thinking about how to be strategic and efficient in every aspect. I completely reworked my website and have shifted the focus of my social media from Nicole the Olympic Athlete to Sifuentes Coaching. I’ve been wondering whether my personal blog still had a place in my online presence, and specifically on my business website. But whether or not it makes sense, the blog will stay. Although I don’t know how often the Lord will give me something to write, I can never give up this small space He has given. me to share the very best news: the incredible opportunity that we have to know our Maker, the God of heaven and earth, Jesus Christ the Saviour of my soul.
